Hisakuni Shrine
The period from 1338 to 1573 is known as the Muromachi period in Japanese history, during which Ashikaga , a descendant of the Minamoto clan whose ancestor was Emperor Seiwa, was appointed Shogun and established a shogunate (Ashikaga Shogunate or Muromachi Shogunate) in Kyoto to rule the entire country.
In the Kanto region, which was far from Kyoto, the shogunate established a position called “kanrei” and decentralized governance was carried out.

The Ashikaga shogunate had a weak political base from the beginning, and there were frequent disturbances within the country, but a military commander named Ota Dokan, a retainer of Kanto Kanrei Ogigayatsu Uesugi Sadamasa, who made a great contribution to the pacification of the Kanto region, based in Edo Castle (present-day Imperial Palace).

Hisakuni Shrine is said to have been relocated to a reservoir pond as the guardian deity of Edo Castle when Ota Dokan built it in 1465. It was then moved to its current location in Roppongi in 1741, and is popularly known as Hotei on the Minato Ward Seven Lucky Gods Tour (a tour of the seven gods said to bring good fortune).
The name “Hisakuni” is said to come from the fact that Ota Dokan donated a sword made by the master swordsmith Hisakuni during the Kamakura period.

久國神社
1338年〜1573年は、日本の時代区分で「室町時代」と呼ばれ、清和天皇を祖先に持つ源氏の末裔、足利氏が征夷大将軍に任ぜられ、京都に幕府(足利幕府又は室町幕府)を置いて全国を統治していました。
京都から遠い関東に関しては、「管領」という幕府の役職を設け、分権的な統治が行われていました。

足利幕府は成立当初から政権基盤が弱く、国内では度々騒乱が生じましたが、関東地方の平定に大きく貢献したのが、関東管領扇谷上杉氏定正の家来であった、太田道灌という武将で、江戸城(現在の皇居)を拠点としていました。

久國神社は、寛政6年（1465年）太田道灌が江戸築城の際、城の鎮守として溜池に遷座したと伝わり、その後、1741年六本木の現在地に遷され、港区七福神巡り(福をもたらすと言われている7柱の神々を回るツアー)では、布袋尊として親しまれています。
なお、「久國」の名は、鎌倉時代の名工久國作の刀を、太田道灌が寄進したことに因むと言われています。
